Southwark’s housing runs the gamut — Georgian townhouses in Borough and Bermondsey, large council estates in Peckham and Camberwell, 1990s conversions in Rotherhithe, and new-builds springing up around Elephant and Castle. Many still have fuse boards that fall short of current UK safety standards. F & A Electrical replaces outdated fuse boards across Southwark with modern RCBO consumer units to BS 7671 18th Edition standards — usually in half a day, fully certified, fixed price.
From £450 + VAT for a standard 1-bed/2-bed flat. Call 07407 627542 for a free quote.
Why upgrade your fuse board?
1. Georgian and Victorian properties. Period homes across Borough, Bermondsey, and parts of Camberwell often retain rewirable fuse boards from the 1960s or earlier with no RCD protection. These are a serious safety risk and will fail any modern inspection.
2. Ex-council estates. Large estates across Peckham, Camberwell (including the Aylesbury estate area), and Walworth were fitted with basic consumer units decades ago. Many have plastic enclosures which have been non-compliant since the 2016 amendment requiring metal-clad boards.
3. 1990s-2000s conversions. Bermondsey and Rotherhithe saw significant conversion activity. Many have split-load boards that only protect some circuits. Current 18th Edition regulations require every circuit to have individual RCD protection.
4. Rental and HMO properties. Southwark has a large rental sector. Landlords must keep electrical installations safe — an outdated fuse board is the most common EICR failure.
