Typical job price guide

Small jobs — replacing a socket or switch, swapping a light fitting, changing a single-to-double socket — are usually covered by the £108 minimum charge, plus the cost of the part. Bigger jobs are priced from our dedicated cost guides:

Job Typical price (inc VAT) Full guide
Socket, switch or light-fitting replacement £108 minimum charge + part
EICR (electrical safety certificate) from £140 fixed price EICR cost London 2026
Landlord EICR & remedials from £140 + quoted C1/C2 fixes Landlord EICR London
Fuse board (consumer unit) replacement £550–£950 supply & fit, itemised Fuse board replacement cost
EV charger installation £750–£1,250 supply & fit, itemised EV charger installation cost
PAT testing £5 per appliance (£108 minimum charge applies)

On supply-and-fit jobs the quote always splits labour and materials as separate lines, so you can compare like for like with any other quote.

PAT testing prices

Portable appliance testing is £5 per appliance inc VAT, with the £108 minimum charge applying to every visit. In practice that means up to 21 appliances are covered by the minimum charge — ideal for landlords, HMOs, small offices and shops. You get a full itemised register and pass/fail labels on the day.

Emergency electrician call-out

We answer 24/7 across north, east and central London. Emergency work is charged on exactly the same basis as day work: £108 minimum inc VAT covering the first hour, labour-only, materials itemised at cost. If we can make the fault safe within the first hour, that is all you pay in labour. Details on our 24-hour emergency electrician London page, or for planned inspections see same-day EICR London.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there a £108 minimum charge?

It covers a qualified, NICEIC-registered electrician travelling to you and up to an hour on site — enough to complete most small jobs outright. It protects you too: no rushed work, no cutting corners to squeeze a job into a cheap quote.

Do your prices include materials?

No — and that is deliberate. Prices are labour-only and materials are itemised separately at cost on your quote. Quotes that bundle materials make it impossible to see what you are actually paying for.

Do prices include VAT?

Yes. Every price on this page and every quote we send is inclusive of VAT. The minimum charge is £90 + VAT = £108.

Is the certificate included in an EICR price?

Yes — EICRs are fixed-price and include the full report. See the EICR cost guide for prices by property size.

Are you insured and certified?

Yes — NICEIC approved, fully insured, and rated 9.7/10 from 237+ reviews on Checkatrade. You can read our reviews here.
