Tower Hamlets has one of London’s most varied housing stocks — from Victorian terraces in Bow to 1960s council towers in Poplar and converted warehouse flats around Wapping and Limehouse. Whatever the property type, if your fuse board is more than 15 years old it probably falls short of current UK safety standards. F & A Electrical replaces outdated fuse boards across Tower Hamlets with modern RCBO consumer units to BS 7671 18th Edition standards — usually in half a day, fully certified, fixed price.
From £450 + VAT for a standard 1-bed/2-bed flat. Call 07407 627542 for a free quote.
Why upgrade your fuse board?
1. Council estate boards from the 1960s-1980s. Large estates across Poplar, Bethnal Green, and Stepney were fitted with rewirable fuse boards that have no RCD protection. If someone touches a live conductor, there is no automatic cut-off.
2. Warehouse and industrial conversions. Areas like Wapping, Limehouse, and parts of Whitechapel saw waves of residential conversions in the 1990s and 2000s. Many were fitted with split-load consumer units that only protect some circuits with an RCD. The current 18th Edition regulations require every final circuit to have individual RCD protection.
3. New-build flats with builder-grade boards. Even relatively recent developments around Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs sometimes have basic consumer units that lack surge protection. If your EICR flags the board, upgrading now avoids problems when you sell or re-let.
4. HMO and rental properties. Tower Hamlets has a high proportion of rented accommodation. Landlords are legally required to keep electrical installations safe, and an outdated fuse board is one of the most common EICR failures.
